What is scalp cooling?

Scalp cooling is a treatment that may help reduce hair loss during certain chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. It works by cooling the scalp before, during, and after chemotherapy, which can decrease the amount of chemotherapy that reaches the hair follicles.

While scalp cooling does not prevent hair loss for everyone, many patients keep some or most of their hair. Results vary depending on the type of chemotherapy, individual factors, and the scalp cooling system used.
